Travis: Welcome to Waxy
Road trips, lazy weekends, late nights, escaping reality, capturing the moment - for almost longer than I can remember, music has been a key cog in my day-to-day life.
I've always enjoyed following music blogs over the years for various reasons but have never come across one that invites a community experience and broad discussion.
Kevin, co-founder of Waxy, and I have always connected though our passion for music. We've had ongoing conversations about new bands, our vinyl collection and setup, and finds from the record store or occasional estate sale. Music is essential in both of our lives, we both like to write, and just like that - Waxy was born. It was an obvious progression from back-and-forth emails to sharing our view on why vinyl and music matter, without any of the boundaries other sites limit themselves with. In addition to covering the world of music, we want to have an open forum for all things interesting, from traveling, to tasty beers, cool sneakers, great TV shows, etc.
I've been frequenting record shops since middle school, spending long afternoons shuffling through isles of music, admiring cover art and sampling new artists at listening stations. I'm also somewhat of an audiophile. In addition to enjoying the collector aspect of vinyl, I love the pure, analog sound that a properly mastered record delivers.
Kevin and I each bring a unique voice to Waxy and want to have others contribute along the way. We hope fellow vinyl enthusiasts can relate to our experiences and convene here for a laid-back approach to music and life. This is Waxy.
