Check Out the President's Vinyl Setup
Thankfully, it's still 2016 (the first time I've ever typed that) and we're talking about the above image, which is President Obama's vinyl rig, according to Architectural Digest. We're fairly certain we won't have to update this post next year with Trump's record station, since we're pretty sure he isn't a vinyl guy since most records aren't white. Okay, that was a low-blow, but c'mon, we're doing what we can to keep our spirits up right now. Apparently Trump is a fan of classic rock though, but so are a lot of American human beings, not that we always assume our soon-to-be-president as such.
Focusing back in on Obama's vinyl station, it's pretty basic and, as others have pointed out, it's probably not the best idea to have your speakers on the same surface as the turntable. Still, I remain happy to have a president who appreciates vinyl, since I really couldn't see George W. Bush dropping the needle on a dusty LP in the West Wing. Bill Clinton, maybe, but he seemed like more of a CD guy.
As they often do, Redditors went ahead and launched a full investigation into Obama's vinyl setup and, according to The Vinyl Factory, found that "the deck is a £250 Denon DP-300F, described by What Hi-Fi as a “fully automatic turntable with an MM cartridge and a built-in phono stage” connected to a set of what appear to be wireless Bluetooth Kanto YU5s."
Obama, you will be missed.
